Day 92: Judge 8-9
Fav verse:
‘Nor did they show any loyalty to the family of Jerub-baal (that is, Gideon), despite all the good he had done for Israel’ 8:35
Reflection:
If you place your faith and loyalty in God alone, you will never be led astray. Years of Gideon’s hard work and sacrifice had gone down the drain. Because Israel saw to it that they would dishonour themselves by worshipping other gods and trusted more in the voice of a relative than in consulting with God. God may bring many mentors into your life. To help lead you and teach you his ways. But we should always keep our eyes on God alone and the day you have someone else into your sight you will lose godly direction.
Day 93: Judge 10-12
Fav verse:
‘..Let the LORD, who us judge, decide today which of us is right-Israel or Ammon’ 11:27
Reflection:
Acknowledge God in all that you do. Jephthah had one really admirable trait in his relationship with God and that was that he always included the Lord in all that he did even after becoming Israel’s judge. When they asked for him to lead, he didn’t become prideful or try to show off. He humbled himself and spoke that only if the Lord gives him victory will he succeed and in any dispute called on God to be the true judge. Even in the hectic time of war, he remembered god’s authority and so should we. Even if our own busiest days we must remember God is always with us. The least we could do is be mindful and invite God into our daily life.
Day 94: Judge 13-15
Fav verse:
‘As Samson arrived at Lehi, the Phillistines came shouting in triumph. But the spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon Samson..’ 15:14
Reflection:
Good things can come out of bad situations. Samson’s mishap during his wedding must have come as a huge surprise to what was a man who had only experienced God’s blessing and God’s spirit in his life. To have his soon to be wife married to a man who was a companion at his party would be an upsetting experience, but God uses emotional situation to stir the spirit within him and allow him to lessen the hold that the philistines had over the tribe of Judah. When going for a hard time, turn to God and ask him how you can use the situation to deepen your faith and show god’s glory through it and watch God come to your rescue.
Day 95: Judges 16-18
Fav verse:
‘So he killed more people when he died than he had during his entire lifetime.’ 16:30
Reflection:
Much of Samsons time as a judge was ruled by his own self Interest and through his downfalls both came by his need of pleasure. While one was able to be used by God, we never hear him never actually consulted God for help romantically and it was the fact that he often did what was right in his own eyes, that in the end his only way to try to get revenge and see God’s plan through was through his own death. Take a look in your life and think about what sin you need to break away from to help you see from a heavenly perspective.
Day 96: Judge 18-21
Fav verse:
‘In those days Israel had no King; all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes.’ 21:25
Reflection:
I admit I struggle with some understanding of these chapters. They mainly see them as a build up to the choosing of a king. I do want to point out the similar story of the men’s behaviour in 1922 to the chapter 195. In Genesis, this was made to show how far the people of Israel had fallen. But this time, God would not come down to get rid of the city of sin himself. But would test the israelites by having them to do it and even then, unlike God they did not wipe out all the evil, but instead even became sympathetic a clear sign in the difference of the mindset of us and God and how truly decieving our heart can be.
Day 97: Ruth 1-4
Fav verse:
‘..Wherever ypu go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God’ 1:16
Reflection:
Ruths story covers great topics on love and faitn. One of God’s love that we can represent through family and two that when working in gods field, he will be kind to us and blesse us. Ruth faced 3 deaths in the family that left her alone with her mother-in-law, but she didn’t give up and continued to work hard to make sure her home had a living. Know that God always pays for our hard work. No matter what struggles come our way, no matter how many days we feel down and if it seems as his life is too hard, keep going. Speak to God even in frustration. Because there will be a day when you can come to him and joy.
Day 98: 1 Samuel 1-3
verse:
‘..I will honour those who honour me, and I will despise those who think lightly of me.’ 2:30
Reflection:
No matter your position in life, God honours those who honour him. He knows when you have set your heart upon him and gives his heart back to you. He will be with you as you grow. And like Samuel knows when you have stayed firm in your faith even if others around you have not. God will never leave you without, when you give up things of this world heaven will give you them back to you more and they will be better things than you have lost. In the end, your holy ways will stand out and God will always remember you.
